Samsung may have quietly discontinued the Galaxy Z Fold 2, does that mean the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is coming soon?

You can no longer buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 from the Samsung store online, at least in the US. This can only mean one thing - the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is about to be launched soon.

We know that the Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 is coming soon. And recently, we've learned of another sign that indicates that the launch of the new foldable smartphone might be right around the corner. You can no longer buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, the predecessor to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, from Samsung's online stores, at least in the US.

The online listing for the Galaxy Fold 2 is not directing people to a page that states - “The Galaxy Fold is no longer available for purchase on Samsung.com, however, please take a look at additional options in the Galaxy Family.” This obviously means as Android Police pointed out, the option to buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is not available on the Samsung website right now.

Some other US carrier listings for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 also seem to have come down over the last 24 hours.

Some other US carrier listings for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 also seem to have come down over the last 24 hours, according to reports. T-Mobile's listing for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is down, it is available on Verizon but for in-store pickup only. Only on AT&T is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 still available online and can be purchased. By the looks of it, in the US you can only buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 from AT&T or online retailers. Currently, though, the Samsung online listing shows that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is out of stock.

All this indicates that Samsung might be trying to phase out the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 before the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 rolls in, and that might well happen soon.

However, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is still available in India, and you can buy it for 134,999 from the Samsung website. You also get the Get Buds Pro for 990 along with 2,000 off with a 20K Advantage voucher.

When is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 launching?

Some reports suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has already entered production and is on track for an August release. While the report states that only components of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 are being produced and not whole phones, one can still assume that the phones are being assembled. Other leaks have also indicated an August release date while some others have suggested that we might see the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 earlier in July.

August seems to be a more likely possibility for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 launch since it fits Samsung's usual release window for phones released later in the year. Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 20 in August last year. However, if we go by when Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 2, the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 might come in September instead, like its predecessor.
