BookMyShow launches BookMyShow Stream in India

The service called BookMyShow Stream is available in India starting today and works on a pay-per-view format where viewers can either buy or rent and watch videos of their choice.

BookMyShow on Thursday launched what it describes as the country's largest homegrown Transaction Video-on-Demand (TVOD) streaming platform. The service called BookMyShow Stream is available in India starting today and works on a pay-per-view format where viewers can either buy or rent and watch videos of their choice.

BookMyShow says that the TVOD has been developed in-house and that it is compatible with multiple devices. The service, that is, BookMyShow Stream will be available for viewing on BookMyShow's mobile app and website as also Apple TV, Android TV, Firestick, Chromecast and desktop browsers. It will allow users to experience features such as downloads, offline viewing and casting.

As far as the content is concerned, BookMyShow says that its newly launched service comes with over 600 movie titles and over 72,000 hours of content. It will feature a handpicked, specially curated library of some of the best, celebrated and award-winning films and content from around the world along with India that users can Rent or Buy and watch. “With over 22,000 hours of content being Exclusive to the platform at launch, BookMyShow Stream will feature multiple marquee Premieres every Friday,” the company wrote in a release.

The company also said that starting today, BookMyShow Stream will be home to Christopher Nolan's Tenet, Gal Gadot starrer Wonder Woman 1984 and Horror fantasy The Craft: Legacy, enabling movie buffs to catch up on their favourite titles. Besides these, films like Alone, Yes God Yes, The Peanut Butter Falcon, The Guilty, Les Miserables, Unhinged and Coma will premiere exclusively on BookMyShow Stream.

Additionally, the service will feature marquee Hollywood content through partnerships with leading Global production giants such Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers and Universal Pictures amongst others. It will also feature content from major Indian production houses such as Viacom18, Shemaroo and Rajshri Productions and Regional content providers like Divo and Sillymonks, among others.
