Its barely been a year since Flickr introduced free storage for every user, along with an automatic uploader tool that organised every photo from your hard drive or SD card in one place.

Now the company has announced that these services won't be free anymore, as users will need to pay a subscription fee to use these tools. A move which could potentially kill Yahoo's photo service, as users have a plethora of other options such as Google Photos which automatically back up your photos on cloud for free.

Flickr's uploader tool made the service highly popular among photo nerds, making it the place for photos. Though now they'll have to pay an annual subscription fee of $49.99 ( ₹3,354 approx) to use the tools that made Flickr ever so popular.

Luckily, users can just head over to Google Photos where they can use a similar uploader tool for free. Just last month, Google announced its plans to shut Picasa primarily to shift focus on the newly launched Google Photos launched a year ago. The company said that time that content from Picasa will be automatically shifted to Google Photos and users can access them if they log in to the app which is available across all platforms or devices.

Google Photos was made a standalone app last year and since then has already racked up more than 100 million monthly active users. The company is now been giving the app several upgrades. For instance, just last week it was updated with a bunch of powerful editing tools. While just a few days back, Google Photos was updated on iOS with support for Live Photos -- the new photo format introduced with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
