The beta version of the next iteration of Apple's OS, iOS 15, has been out for a while now and as days pass people are discovering more about the software, including issues. As many have pointed out, the Live Text feature and the UX refinements like clustered notifications make iOS 15 better than iOS 14. However, as TechRadar discovered, iOS has had a bug for a decade and iOS 15 has not fixed it yet.

While it is not a bug that ruins the experience or bricks up your phone, unlike the last iOS 14 update that left many people with no service, it is a malformation and has been kicked right to the bottom of its priority list so much so that devs don't even seem to notice it anymore. However, it is annoying.

So, what is this bug? It's one that lives in your iMessages. You might have experienced it sometime in the past and you may not significantly remember it, it's that inconsequential in the bigger scheme of things. If you are chatting on Messages and you want to send a photo, you tap on the action bar to open photos and tap on the one/ones you want to send. These then appear in your message draft window. Next, you hit the send button and the daft goes away, but the photo has not been sent. You repeat the whole process again with the same end results, till you FINALLY manage to send that photo/photos.

Now, what's worse is that this bug does not act up all the time. It causes some occasional havoc and then goes dormant so as you can send the photo and dismiss it as a one-off issue. It is difficult to cause intentionally and thus it is not reproducible and remains off the radar.

There is also a fix for this. And it is pretty simple. All you need to do is manually close the Messages app and then open it again. This manual refresh makes the app work perfectly and the bug does not act up. But it is a process and it takes those few extra seconds to send a photo which makes it annoying. As we said, it's relatively minor and will not ruin your day, but Apple really ought to fix it though.
