CES 2021: Lenovo launches its thinnest ThinkPad laptop yet, world’s first with Dolby Voice

Like HP and Dell, Lenovo has also revealed some of its new laptops at the ongoing CES 2021 event. The company has announced what they call is their ‘thinnest’ ThinkPad laptop ever, the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga. This device sports Titanium coating and is 11mm thin, while supporting a 13.5-inch, low power display with 3:2 aspect ratio, along with Dolby Vision HDR support Dolby Atmos speaker system, and more. The company has also announced the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen-9 along with X1 Yoga Gen-6.

These upgraded models come with 16: 10 aspect ratio displays in addition to low blue light feature, integrated fingerprint reader on the power button and a new Computer Vision Experiences (CBX) support to detect human presence for enhanced security and ease of use.

It has been added that the X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos speaker system, and are also the ‘world's first’ laptops to support Dolby voice. This aims to deliver an improved conferencing experience, reduces listener fatigue and makes your voice sound clear in meetings. 

Lenovo has also revealed its ThinkPad X12 Detachable, which is a high-performance laptop but with a detachable tablet design. It has a 12.3-inch screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and even supports input from the optional Lenovo Precision Pen or Lenovo digital pen.

Finally, the firm at CES 2021 revealed the ThinkPad Thunderbolt and USB Universal, and Smart Docks. This will supposedly ease out the increased work-from-anywhere scenarios, allow for silent detection download and install a firmware update.

The Smart Dock is powered by Microsoft Azure sphere that enhances the functionality by providing remote capabilities for updates, device management and port status monitoring without interrupting the productivity and the need for PC to be connected all the time. 

As for the performance, Lenovo says that its entire ThinkPad X1 portfolio, except for the X1 Fold, is designed on Intel Evo platform and is powered by the latest 11th generation Intel Core processors with Iris X graphics.

These also work with Lenovo's own ThinkShield security solutions and Intel hardware shield that is available on Intel Vpro platform. ThainkPad X1 Titanium Yoga will be available to order from this month itself and will start at $1899 whereas the X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga will be available starting from February, with prices starting at $1499 and $1569 respectively. 

ThinkPad X1 Detachable will be available starting this month and the base model will be priced at $1149. The company is yet to reveal the pricing and availability details of the ThinkPad docking solutions.
