Several users have reported problems during installation of the latest OS from Microsoft, Windows 11. The Windows 11 error is generic and is mostly occurring in the preview builds. Microsoft knows about this Windows 11 bug and is taking steps to roll out an update.

Microsoft has acknowledged the existence of the bug and is labelling it as generic error. Microsoft advised one user on the feedback hub “Thanks for taking the time to report this – error code 0xc1900101 is a generic error displayed when an update fails and rolls back for some reason. This is an area we monitor closely and can have different root causes depending on which build you were attempting to upgrade to and your setup.” (Microsoft)

Since this error occurs in the preview builds on Windows 11, such as the Windows 11 preview build 22504, released in November 2021, Microsoft advised users at the time to pause the updates until a solution could be found. So, instead of tinkering with your machine or the software, your best bet is to wait for a stable update to arrive. (Microsoft)
