Microsoft Teams has rolled out 4 exciting new features that will boost your virtual meeting experience. These MS Teams features are mostly quality of life changes and include a music mode, press-to-unmute function, video mirroring and custom background. Check out the details!

Microsoft Teams has released four different features to the existing version. While three features - Music mode, video mirroring and press-to-unmute - is available for both web as well as android and iOS versions, custom backgrounds have only been added to the web version. (Microsoft)

These new features by Teams come right after its recent announcement of crossing 270 million active monthly users in the third quarter of FY22. MS Teams Music mode: The music mode amplifies and improves the sound experience when sharing non-speech content such as live music, songs through third-party applications or medical signals on a virtual appointment with a physician. It improves the sound experience for both audio coming from the microphone as well as other applications. (Microsoft India)

Press to Unmute: Users will now be able to unmute themselves by holding down the Ctrl+Space keys (Windows) or Option+Space keys (macOS), then release the keys to go back to mute. This feature will be on by default, meaning you will be on mute whenever you join the call. If you want to disable it, you can do it by going to Teams Settings > Privacy section and unchecking Keyboard shortcut to unmute. (Microsoft India)

Mirror my video: Just by going to Device settings > Mirror my video, you can now unmirror your video to allow seeing any text on the video correctly and not flipped. This solves a lot of headaches for people who share whiteboard writings during meetings. (Microsoft India)

Custom background on web: Just like Google meets, you can now blur your background or use Microsoft-provided backgrounds during your virtual meetings. But just like Google meet, it may not completely hide any sensitive information in the background. (Microsoft)
