Galaxy Note 20 to debut at Samsung’s Aug 5 Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event

It’s official. Samsung will host its Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5. This year, Samsung is holding the event online in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic. At its Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event, Samsung will showcase a wide range of devices. The star of the show, however, will be the Galaxy Note 20.

Last year, Samsung converted the Galaxy Note into a series format, akin to Galaxy S lineup. The company launched Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+. This year, Samsung is going to continue the trend as it plans to launch Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Ahead of the launch, Samsung phones have already been part of multiple leaks, leaving very little to the imagination.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series will come with a slew of upgrades, especially in the camera and performance departments. If rumours are to be believed, Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will get the 108-megapixel camera. The sensor, however, will be upgraded for better performance. The phone is expected to come with at least three cameras featuring 108-megapixel primary sensor, 13-megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 12-megapixel sensor.

Let’s talk about performance. Samsung is likely to use its latest Exynos 992 processor on the Note 20 series. It may be recalled the Exynos 990-powered S20 series had received bad user feedback over the performance. For non-Exynos markets, Samsung is likely to use Qualcomm’s upgraded Snapdragon 865 Plus processor. It is worth noting that a bunch of high-end phones are going to run on this chip. Lenovo (Legion) and Asus (ROG Phone 3) are likely to be the early adopters.

And then there will be newer colour options. Already, copper-gold and black colour variants have been spotted online. According to leaks so far, the company will continue with the matte-like finish on the back glass panel. As far as the display goes, you can expect larger screens, which is the USP of the Note series. The Ultra phone could have up to 120Hz refresh rate. Note 20, however, may be stuck to 60Hz.
