MediaTek on Wednesday announced the launch of the Dimensity 700 5G smartphone chipset in India. The company also announced that Realme would be the first smartphone brand to offer a phone with the latest chipset.
As the name implies, Dimensity 700 5G comes with 5G capabilities. Other highlights of the new process are advanced camera performance and power efficiency. The chipset comes with features, such as 5G Carrier Aggregation (2CC 5G-CA) and Dual 5G SIM and the 5G-exclusive Voice over New Radio (VoNR) services. The 7nm chip also features two Arm Cortex-A76 ‘Big’ cores in its octa-core CPU at up to a speed of 2.2GHz and 5G-CA (2CC). MediaTek says the CPU delivers more than 30% of higher throughput layer coverage and allows a seamless transition between two 5G network areas.
Dimensity 700 5G also brings full HD+ display support along with a 90Hz refresh rate. For photography, it supports up to 64-megapixels along with AI-driven features like bokeh, colour, and beauty and real-time bokeh in portrait preview. It also has facial detection. Another highlight is the support for voice assistants from global brands.
In terms of specifications, MediaTek’s new chip features LPDDR4x memory, UFS 2.2 storage type, Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU (950Mhz max GPU frequency), 2K @ 30FPS video playback, and H.264, H.265 / HEVC video encoding. Connectivity options are 5G, 4G CA, NavIC, GPS, Wi-Fi 5 (a/b/g/n/ac), and Bluetooth 5.1.
