Microsoft shipped Windows 10 May 2020 update with this bug

Microsoft rolled out one of the biggest updates to Windows 10 last month. The update dubbed as the Windows 10 May 2020 update when released was riddled with bugs. Sure, the update brought improvements to Bluetooth connectivity, passwordless sign-ins, kaomoji, and Edge among other things but it also brought a lost list of bugs to the PCs. There’s an entire blog dedicated to highlighting the issues with the May update. Now, a new report details another critical bug that Windows 10 May 2020 update shipped with.

According to a report by Techdows, Windows 10 May 2020 update shipped with issues in the operating system’s Fresh Start feature.

To give you some idea about the feature, factory reset restores your PC to the factory settings installing the unnecessary bloatware and removing your personal data from your PC. Microsoft’s Fresh Start feature, on the other hand, gives you a fresh start by removing all the unnecessary third-party apps and freeing up memory in your PC without removing your personal data.

Now, the bug in the latest Windows 10 update prevents the use of this feature. To put it simply, the feature doesn’t work.

What makes the matter worse is the fact that Microsoft knew about the issues with Windows 10’s Fresh Start feature well in advance and yet the company let it slide past it. The publication notes that the issue was first spotted nearly eight months ago and since then countless developers have highlighted the matter yet the company has not only failed to fix this bug but also failed to acknowledge it. The issues is not listed in the list of known issues for the May 2020 update.
