Microsoft Teams displays to support, Webex, Zoom meetings soon

Microsoft is soon going to allow access to Zoom and Webex meetings on Teams Android devices. The Teams Android devices include displays and desk phones are popular with enterprise and business users. However, only video-enabled Teams devices will get support for Zoom and Webex meetings though. Support for Zoom and Webex meetings will greatly enhance the capabilities of Teams hardware.

The ability to connect Team Rooms and Zoom Room devices was rolled out last year. Thus, the expansion to allow Teams android devices into the ecosystem is only natural. This upcoming feature that supports Zoom and Webex calls spotted first by Dr. Windows, as OnMST reported.

According to the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the exact description of this feature is - “Microsoft Teams: Direct guest join for Zoom and Webex meetings on video-enabled certified Teams Android devices”. 

It is described as - “Direct guest join (aka Third-party meeting join) is an ability to join meetings of other meeting providers from Microsoft Teams. Third-party meetings will appear on the Teams calendar and users will be able to join them the same way they join any other Teams meeting. This functionality will be limited to video-enabled certified Teams Android devices and will support only Zoom and Webex meetings.”

As per the roadmap, this feature could roll out by September 2021, however, one must note that dates on the roadmap are subject to change. Once this officially rolls out, users will be able to access almost all meetings on one device.
