Xiaom’s new sub-brand ‘Poco’ made its debut in India today. Poco by Xiaomi introduced the first product from the sub-brand called the Poco F1.Poco F1 comes in three colour options of ‘Steel Blue’, ‘Graphite Black’, and ‘Rosso Red’. Poco F1 features a 6.18-inch Full HD+ display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection on top. Under the hood of the smartphone runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor with storage expansion up to 256GB. For photography, Poco F1 sports a dual-camera setup of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. There’s also a 20-megapixel selfie camera up front.On the software front, Poco F1 runs Android 8.1 Oreo with a customised MIUI for Poco. The company has also promised Android Pie update for Poco F1 by Q4 this year. Connectivity options on Poco F1 include dual SIM, dual 4G VoLTE, USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Poco by Xiaomi officially debuted in India today with the launch of Poco F1 smartphone. Poco F1 starts at Rs 20,999 going up to Rs 29,999. It will be available in India starting August 29.
Poco F1 is an online-exclusive smartphone and it will be available starting midnight on August 29 via mi.com and Flipkart.
Poco F1 will be available with Rs 1,000 cashback for HDFC Bank card holders for the first sale. Jio users can avail benefits up to Rs 8,000 benefits and up to 6TB of data on purchasing the Poco F1.
Poco F1 Armoured edition with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at Rs 29,999.
Poco F1 is priced at Rs 20,999 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. There’s another model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage which will retail at Rs 23,999. The top model of Poco F1 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage carries a price tag of Rs 28,999.
Poco F1 will be supported by all of Xiaomi’s 1000 service centres in India. The smartphone will also be made in India.
Poco F1 runs Android 8.1 Oreo on the software front. The company promises Android 9 Pie update for Poco F1 by Q4 this year.
Poco launcher beta will be available on August 29. It can be downloaded on Google Play Store.
Poco F1 runs its customised version of Xiaomi’s MIUI. MIUI for Poco comes with a Poco launcher, a turbocharged engine and promises faster updates. MIUI on Poco F1 has an app drawer and UI customisations.
Poco F1 features a 20-megapixel hi-res camera. The AI scene recogniton on Poco F1 can recognise up to 10 different scenes.
Poco F1 comes with real-time AI features like scene recognition for 206 scenes across 25 categories. It also comes with AI beautify mode.
Poco F1 sports a dual-camera setup of a 12-megapixel Sony IMX 636 sensor and a 5-megapixel snapper. It comes with dual pixel autofocus.
Poco F1 Armoured edition is made with Kevlar aramid fibre, a material used in bulletproof vests. This edition is scratch and wear resistant with a grippy texture.

Poco F1 comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage which is further expandable up to 256GB.
Poco F1 comes with support for 4G+ in India which is said to offer 275% faster data. It also comes with dual 4G VoLTE.
Poco F1 has a 4,000mAh battery claimed to offer juice for an entire day. The smartphone also comes with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
Poco F1 comes with a liquid cooling system enabling the smartphone to run at peak performance for a longer time without overheating.
Mani says that Poco F1 smartphone has a benchmark score of 291,302 on AnTuTu.
Poco F1 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor paired with Adreno 630 GPU.

Poco aims to break the trend of flagship smartphones costing around $999. The company will focus on key areas of a smartphone with emphasis on performance and speed.
Poco by Xiaomi comprises of eight members in the team including Jai Mani.
“For the first product, we got to basics and focus entirely on speed. Not just peak performance speed, but actual, real world speed,” Mani said. Poco F1 has so far been confirmed to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and Corning Gorilla Glass display protection.
Poco is headed by Xiaomi’s Jai Mani who tweeted the announcement of the sub-brand last month.“Poco is all about making a powerful smartphone with the technologies that truly matter. Recently it feels like the pace of innovation in the smartphone industry has slowed down, while prices are creeping up with flagship smartphones now past the $1000 mark,” Mani said.
Poco F1 smartphone will be available exclusively via e-commerce platform Flipkart. Availability details on Poco F1 will be announced at the launch event.
The expected specifications and price for Poco F1 places the phone in the mid-range segment making it the latest competitor for the OnePlus 6. To recall, OnePlus 6 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and offers up to 256GB of storage. OnePlus 6 starts at Rs 34,999 in India.
Poco F1 like the company says will focus on speed which will be carried out by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor. Poco F1 will also come with liquid cooling technology which will boost gaming performance on the phone.
Camera samples of Poco F1 smartphone have been leaked online highlighting AI smart scene recognition as one of the features. Poco F1 will most likely feature a dual-camera setup at the rear.
