Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 gets Android 11 based OneUI 3

Samsung has been on a roll with their updates of late and the company is showing no signs of slowing down, with the Android 11 update rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 starting today.

The OneUI 3.0 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 which is based on Android 11 is now rolling out to users in Germany, according to online reports. The build, which bears the firmware version F916BXXU1CTLL, will soon roll out to other regions, so users can check the updates section of their Galaxy device.

In addition to Samsung’s already feature-rich OneUI software skin, the Android 11 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 also includes useful and important features introduced by Google in September including One Time Permissions, Chat Bubbles and conversation section, a revamped media widget and overall improvements to lock screen widgets. Samsung’s own OneUI suite of apps have also received a fresh coat of paint, including the settings app and the Bixby Routines app.

Samsung has stuck to their schedule for updates so far, with updates already released for most phones slated to get Android 11 in January. Starting in February, the company will begin to update its midrange and budget models on a regular basis, going by the schedule released last year.

The Note 10 and the Galaxy Z Flip were the first Samsung devices to receive Android 11 in 2021, with the Galaxy S10 following suit soon after. The company’s Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S20 FE and the Galaxy Z Flip also recently received the January security patches along with Google’s Pixel line earlier this month.
