Samsung launches the Galaxy A32 5G, its cheapest 5G phone to date

A day before it is expected to launch its flagship S-series phones at its Unpacked 2021 event, Samsung unveiled its most affordable 5G device so far on Wednesday, the Galaxy A32 5G, as it plans to bring the game-changing network technology to more people this year.

According to GSMArena, the Galaxy A32 5G, which has been launched in Europe and be available for purchase from next month, is powered by an unnamed octa-core processor running at 2.0 GHz. Samsung usually refrains from specifying the chipset unless a phone or tablet comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. We’d reported in December that the phone might ship with a Mediatek Dimensity 720 processor, which now seems even more likely.

The phone will also ship with a 6.5 inch ‘notched’ 720p LCD screen, which is a bit of a disappointment considering the device’s €280 and €300 price points for the 64 GB and 128GB models respectively. It does have a side mounted fingerprint scanner, which should be a lot faster than any in-screen scanner.

The Galaxy A32 5G will come with a 48 MP camera camera, an 8 MP ultra wide camera, and two 5 MP sensors - one macro camera and a depth sensor. On the front is a 13 MP sensor for selfies.

The device will ship in three RAM variants - 4GB, 6GB and 8GB, and come in four colours - black, white, blue and violet. The unit will be powered by a 5000 mAh battery - given how power-hungry 5G phones can be, this is probably a good thing. The 15W “Fast” charging will probably see you charging from zero to 100 in over two hours, though.
