The biggest Supermoon of 2022 is all set to grace the sky today. The moon will appear slightly bigger and brighter than usual and this is why it’s called Supermoon. This year, a total of four full Supermoons will be visible out of which two have already appeared and today will be the third one. According to NASA, the supermoon, also known as the buck moon will be closest to the Earth in its orbit. It is known as buck moon as the Maine Farmer’s Almanac named it after the buck deer. As shared by NASA, a buck deer fully develops its antlers in early summers and hence July Supermoon is also called Buck Supermoon. The male deer shed their antlers every year and they regrow again by this time. It is also named as the Thunder moon because frequent thunderstorms are witnessed around summertime. When will Supermoon appear in the sky?

Supermoon will be visible on Wednesday, July 13, at around 2:38 pm EDT or 12:08 am IST (Thursday). It will appear full for three days till early Friday morning. “The next full moon will be Wednesday afternoon, July 13, 2022, appearing opposite the Sun in Earth-based longitude at 2:38 p.m. EDT. This will be on Thursday morning from the India Standard Time Zone eastward to the International Date Line,” NASA wrote on its official website.
