Sony launches FX3 full-frame camera for videographers, costs ₹3,99,990

Sony has just launched its FX3 full-frame camera that is being boasted for the company’s digital cinema technology and advanced imaging features from Alpha mirrorless cameras. The FX3 Cinema-Line Camera body costs ₹3,99,990 and will be available in India starting April 8 at select Sony Centers and Alpha Flagship stores.

The camera has a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor full-frame 10.2-megapixel (approx. effective) count for movie recording (and 12.1 effective megapixels for stills) along with the BIONZ XR image processing engine. In addition, you get a standard ISO range from 80 to 102,400, which is expandable to 409,600 when shooting a movie. This is complemented by a wide 15+ stop dynamic range. Movie shooters get the S-Cinetone look profile that is claimed to deliver natural mid-tones along with soft colours and smooth highlights. You can shoot 4K videos at 120 frames per second as well.

For shooting, FX3 offers Fast Hybrid autofocus (AF) by using the 627 points 12 focal plane phase-detection system during movie recording. It also has Touch Tracking (Real-time Tracking) where simply touching the desired subject on the monitor screen initiates auto focus and tracking on that subject.

FX3’s body features five thread holes (1/4-20 UNC) that lets you attach compatible accessories without adding a lot of weight so you can perform handheld shooting and carry around. The XLR handle unit includes two XLR/TRS audio inputs to the FX3 for enabling high quality audio. The camera settings provide audio recording formats including 4-channel 24-bit recording.
