Microsoft announced Windows 11 at a special event in June 2021. Since then, Microsoft, via its Windows Insider program, has given us a glimpse of the features that will make it to Windows 11. For instance, we know that Windows 11 will get a new taskbar, an updated Notification Centre, the ability to respond to chats inline, and the ability to add contacts via an email address or phone number. In addition to that, the company had said that it would also be bringing Microsoft Teams integration directly to Windows 11. Today, the company has revealed yet another feature that will be making its way to Windows 11 when it is released later this year.

Microsoft today revealed that it would be bringing Spotify integration directly to Windows 11. The news was revealed by Microsoft’s head of Windows and devices Panos Panay via a post on Twitter. “Another first look from the team...#FocusSessions on #Windows11 coming soon. This has been a game-changer for me, especially with @Spotify integration,” the Microsoft executive wrote in a post that also contains a 16-seconds long video that gives a glimpse of how this feature would work.

Panay, in the video, teased a feature called Focus Sessions that will be arriving in the Windows 11when it is launched. It appears that Focus Sessions will enable users to focus on tasks and work at hand without letting them get distracted. How Spotify fits into all of this is really simple. All users have to do is set a timer to activate Focus Sessions and they will be able to play songs from a playlist on Spotify.

It is worth noting that Microsoft hasn’t started testing Focus Sessions in its public builds of Windows 11 yet. But it seems that the company is building support for it in the operating system’s Clock app and that it should be available in the company’s upcoming desktop based operating system in a future build.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Microsoft has worked with Spotify. In the past, the two companies have worked together on a Windows 10 app and an app for Microsoft’s gaming consoles.

It seems, as far as Microsoft is concerned, work, music and even gaming should go hand in hand. After all, what Microsoft has tried to sell the hardest of all is the gaming angle in Windows 11.
