Windows 11 update: Photos app upgrade brings these new features

Microsoft Windows 11 update will be released in exactly two weeks. This means that users who want to download the upcoming version of Windows will not have to wait too long before they can access the new operating system that brings a number of improvements, new features and functionalities across the operating system. In fact, Windows 11 update comes with the biggest changes to the operating system since 2015, when Microsoft first launched Windows 10. Along with the redesigned interface, many apps like Calculator, Paint, are getting a fresh coat of paint.

While many apps are getting visual tweaks with the arrival of Windows 11, one of the apps getting both a new design and new features is the Microsoft Photos app. Microsoft has detailed some of the changes that are coming to the Photos app on the company’s Windows blog, which explains the new features as well. Revamped editing toolbar on Windows 11 Photos app

With Windows 11, the Photos app is getting overhauled to give users the ability to quickly crop, touch up and rotate photos. Users can also quickly “heart” images to add them to their favourites, quickly check image metadata, and also use their stylus (or a mouse) to draw and markup images. Most importantly, users can also quickly load the same image on other apps like Photoshop, Picsart, Affinity Photos and others using the toolbar.

Redesigned interface for Windows 11 Photos app

Like the other system apps on Windows, Microsoft has given the Photos app a fresh coat of paint. It isn’t surprising that the app is getting a redesigned interface since all the other apps are getting the new Fluent interface elements with the Mica design. However, in addition to the new design, users will also see a film strip of all the images in that folder at the bottom of the viewer, users will be able to quickly move through their images, but it will automatically hide when you need to view an image in full-screen mode.

New multi-view mode for images on Windows 11 Photos app

In 2021, Microsoft is finally allowing users to look at more than one image at the same time, which is one of the most useful features for photographers or designers. The new multi-view mode will let users place images side by side and look at them to pick between them, then delete, edit or perform other operations. The multi-view mode can be turned on using the same film strip of all the images at the bottom of the screen, so you don’t have to open two windows with separate images just to open them side by side manually to compare or select one of them to use or delete.
