You will never guess what Carl Pei’s new company is called

After months of anticipation, Carl Pei finally announced the name of his next big venture today. The Swedish tech entrepreneur announced the launch of a new tech company called ‘Nothing’.

Nothing, as Pei describes it, is a “new forward-thinking consumer technology company” based in London. It was launched by Pei after calling it quits from OnePlus, of which he is a co-founder, back in October 2020.

The announcement comes shortly after his venture received $7 million in seed funding from various tech investors such as Tony Fadell, Casey Neistat, Kevin Lin, Steve Huffman and Josh Buckley back in December 2020. Pei’s venture also received funding from CRED founder Kunal Shah.

“It’s been a while since anything interesting happened in tech. It is time for a fresh breeze of change,” Pei said on the occasion.

“Nothing’s mission is to remove barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future. We believe that the best technology is beautiful, yet natural and intuitive to use. When sufficiently advanced, it should fade into the background and feel like nothing,” he added.

Notably, Nothing has also made a debut on all social media platforms. However, there are no products in its portfolio yet. Nothing says that it will be releasing its first smart devices in the first half of this year.
