Microsoft is bringing in one of the most useful features of Apple’s iOs mobile platform to PCs with an update on Windows 10. The PC Suite will soon have a spacebar cursor feature that has been popular for very long with mobile users. The feature gives users more control over on-screen navigation simply by pressing and holding the spacebar while moving your finger.

Apple had introduced the spacebar cursor with iOS 12 and this feature is also reminiscent of the keypad scrolling we’ve seen on BlackBerry devices.

This new feature will roll in as a part of a future Windows 10 build, with Microsoft mentioning that its release will be a part of the Windows 10 preview build 20206. The company added that they have brought it in because it has been a popular request from users around the world. They also explained how this feature is going to work in their release notes.

A touch keyboard could be useful for those users using Windows 10 on tablet mode, and could be a headline feature for Microsoft's new handheld devices such as the Surface Duo. The company is also gearing up for the release of the next generation of Windows 10X, designed specifically for foldable devices, reports TechRadar.

The Build 20206, which has currently been released to testers in the Dev Channel, comes with a new version of Windows dictation which has been renamed “Windows voice typing”. As with dictation, it’s possible to use voice typing anywhere on Windows 10 where there is a text field. The improvement optimises this same feature for usage with touch keyboards.

Preview Build 20206 also brings in an improved emoji picker and an in-line search box that will help you find the right emoji, and support for animated GIFs.
