Caviar's PS5 Golden Rock edition costs half a million dollars
The PlayStation 5 Golden Rock Edition is covered in 18-carat gold with a solid gold Caviar brand plate.
Luxury brand Caviar last month unveiled the PlayStation 5 Golden Rock Edition that's covered in 18-carat gold. It has now revealed the price of this limited edition luxury console. Caviar is known for its gold, silver and diamond editions of smartphones primarily iPhones. It took things up a notch by deciding to make a gold clad-PS5.
The PS5 Golden Rock is priced at $499,000 which is half a million dollars. Caviar is releasing only nine models of this limited edition luxury piece. It's currently up for sale on Caviar's website. While it may seem bizarre that one would pay half a million dollars for this product, there are actually quite a few people interested in purchasing it. The company has so far received 1,342 applications for the gold PS5.
“Among those who showed interest in Golden Rock was the famous basketball player LeBron James, the company also received inquiries from a well-known Russian businessman living outside Russia and an equally famous American businessman in the IT field, whose names are not to be disclosed,” Caviar said in a press statement.
Caviar said the PS5 Golden Rock was made using eight sheets cast in solid gold shaped in a geometric design inspired by the gold ore and the rock. Each console weighs around 4.5 kgs of gold. It also comes with a solid gold Caviar brand plate. For the PS5 DualSense controller, Caviar has covered the accessory with crocodile leather and 750 gold inserts on it.
Caviar also has Carbon and Alligator editions of the PS5 that cost $5,830 and $8,140, respectively.
