5/5 Since this error occurs in the preview builds on Windows 11, such as the Windows 11 preview build 22504, released in November 2021, Microsoft advised users at the time to pause the updates until a solution could be found. So, instead of tinkering with your machine or the software, your best bet is to wait for a stable update to arrive. (Microsoft)

Don't want to see gory news on your Windows 11 desktop anymore? Check out how you can disable it. (Microsoft )

Do you hate the news widget that permanently shows up on your Windows desktop screen every morning because of the gory, or bad, news that is disseminated daily by news agecies? Instead of separate widgets, Windows 11 has a News and Interests widget board that combines the functionality of all widgets such as weather, news, photos, stocks and more. It is an all-in-one widget which enables you to free up your desktop by keeping just one widget on your home screen.

However, sometimes you wish to just turn off the flow of bad news. Although Windows 11 does not let users disable just the news section of the widget board, there are various workarounds you can use to remove it from your desktop.

Disable News and Interests widget using Settings

    Step 1:

To hide the widget, right click on the task bar and click on Settings.

    Step 2:

You will find a widget toggle. Click on it to disable the widget from your desktop

    Step 3:

This will hide the widget from your desktop. To enable it again, simply go to the same option and click the toggle on.

    Hide news stories from widget

    Step 1:

Alternatively, you can hide news stories you're not interested in. Open the widget by clicking on it.

    Step 2:

Click the 3 dots in the bottom-right of the news story you wish to hide.
