Discord’s Stage Discovery feature will help users find social audio rooms
Discord has decided to go the Clubhouse/Twitter Spaces way, announces Stage Discovery to help users find social audio rooms.
Marking its sixth birthday, Discord has announced a new feature that will make it easier for users to find social audio rooms. The app is also going to get a new logo and a Threads feature to make conversations on the platform easier. Discord's new app Stage Channels, which is essentially about Clubhouse-type social audio rooms, is now joined by Stage Discovery. This Stage Discovery feature can help the user see a feed on the public Stage Channels that he/she might be interested in. This list of public Stage Channels will be created by the platform using machine learning.
“We recently launched Stage Channels to give larger communities an easy way to host panels, comedy nights, or really any kind of live audio event. Today we're announcing Stage Discovery, a new feature that will allow you to explore these audio events without needing to hop in and out of servers to find the ones you want to check out,” Discord explained.
The Verge has reported that the Stage Discovery feature will roll out on June 1 and users will be able to access the feed through a new Stage Channels icon on the main toolbar on mobile and on the Home menu on the desktop. This feature is similar to Twitter Spaces where users can join live Spaces being hosted by people they follow, they can also join public Spaces.
Discord has stated that users cannot use profane language in the titles or descriptions on Stage Channels. Use of explicit and graphic content, and also sexual content is prohibited. The platform is also testing ways to allows users host paid events on Stage Channels. This feature is in private beta for now. Discord is also going to roll out the Threads feature this summer that will allow users to streamline chats better.
