Facebook rolls a major upgrade to Messenger rooms
Facebook is introducing the ability to customise the background in Messenger Rooms. Messenger Rooms users can use their photos in video chats. Users can also customise the background in Messenger Rooms with a video.
Facebook first announced Messenger Rooms back in April this year. The company gradually introduced the feature that enables users to connect with a large number of people in a common digital space to Facebook, Messenger and even WhatsApp. Now, the company has rolled out a major update that brings a host of new features and functionality to Messenger Rooms.
Firstly, Messenger Rooms is getting customisable backgrounds. Up until now, Messenger Rooms users could use Messenger's AR effects, such as immersive 360-degree backgrounds and mood lighting filters, in Messenger Rooms. Now, the company is introducing the ability to customise the background in Messenger Rooms. Messenger Rooms users can use their photos in video chats. Users can also customise the background in Messenger Rooms with a video.
In addition to introducing customisable backgrounds, Facebook has also introduced the ability to create, share, manage and drop by a room using the Messenger app.

The company has introduced discover rooms feature that will show users the Rooms that they have been invited to. It will show at the top of users' Chats tab in their Inboxes. On the other hand, the Create Rooms feature will enable users to create a room in their Chats tab. There is an Edit Rooms feature that will enable users to create a room with a default, suggested or custom activity. With this, users can set a future start date and even customise their audience selection.
Additionally, Facebook has also added a Manage Rooms feature to Messenger Rooms that will enable users to view, join, and edit the rooms that they have created. This includes the ability to invite more people to a scheduled room and delete a room that they don't want to be active anymore. Lastly, the company has added a Share Rooms feature that will enable users to send notifications to ensure their invited friends don't miss out.
