At an event this October 8, the Taiwanese manufacturer will announce several new products, one of which is expected to be its very first mini action camcorder. Earlier rumors on the subject are now supported by a new video uploaded by HTC to YouTube and a new dedicated website.
'Something remarkable is coming,' says the tagline in HTC's teaser for the mystery item it is preparing to launch this fall.
While there is no explicit description of the product, the footage strongly suggests a small, portable and discreet action camera that can film underwater and withstand shocks.
If the rumors are confirmed, HTC might launch a product resembling the Sony Action Cam, the Full HD camcorder that is waterproof (up to 60 meters), shockproof and dustproof. Equipped with a Zeiss lens developed specifically for the purpose, Sony's model is one of the rare mini camcorders that is capable of competing with the GoPro.
The latest iteration of the GoPro, the Hero3+, is capable of filming at a resolution of up to 4K (4,096X2160 pixels) and in ultra wide angle mode.
