iBall Andi and Sleec quite impressive

We reckon iBall isn’t paying people to come up with names for their products. Case in point: phones called Andi and Sleec. But if you can live with that, the Andi 4.5q packs in high-end features — a dual-core processor, a decent camera with flash and an up-to-date Android OS.

We reckon iBall isn't paying people to come up with names for their products. Case in point: phones called Andi and Sleec. But if you can live with that, the Andi 4.5q packs in high-end features — a dual-core processor, a decent camera with flash and an up-to-date Android OS.

Pros: The phone is a bit on the heavier side, but feels sturdy. It comes with two changeable covers. We stuck to white, though the more adventurous might appreciate the neon orange. The touch is quite responsive, and the dual-core processor enables it to run simultaneous programmes smoothly. We put it through a rigorous Temple Run 2 test, and it fared pretty well. It has a larger-than-usual battery, and we didn't run out of juice through the day, even with Wi-Fi, sync and GPS running continuously.

Cons: An iBall phone will not earn you any social cred. So if you're the sort who's willing to drop 40,000 to boast of the latest iPhone or Galaxy, this isn't for you. That apart, the only other negative is the badly conceived name. And yes, actor Kareena Kapoor's (brand ambassador) photo on the box isn't really an added incentive either.

Verdict: Truth be told, we were expecting this phone to pass muster at best. However, it more than impressed us. Priced at a shade over 10,000, it has the feel and the specifications of a product from a higher price category.
