Amazon's game streaming service Twitch is to carry the broadcasts, with the one-day Electronic Sports League tournament to take place on March 4 at the Fira Gran Via expo center in Barcelona.
'Whilst live esports audiences are growing year-on-year, it is the online market -- particularly on mobile devices -- that is growing exponentially,' explains the MWC's entry on its partnership with the ESL.
Though the MWC's February 11 announcement did not contain specific details, the ESL event is intended to 'showcase the intersection of mobile and eSports,' while 'Mobile World Congress attendees will now have the opportunity to get involved.'
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is to headline the Mobile World Live Keynote on Monday, March 2 from 6pm Central European Time, first in conversation with technology writer Jessi Hempel, and then as part of a panel discussion with senior executives from several telecommunications companies.
The Federal Communications Commission's Chairman, Tom Wheeler, will then speak with GSM Association Director on Tuesday, March 3. The Senior VP of Android, Chrome & Apps at Google, Sundar Pichai, has been booked for Monday March 2 from 1:15pm; all Live Keynotes and Extra Sessions are to be streamed online via the Mobile World Live portal.
