With a new PlayStation 4 bundle prepared to better match the Xbox One's recent price cut, both new console systems are ready for the holiday rush.
Microsoft's latest range of Xbox One bundles enable consumers to bring home the US tech giant's entertainment system for $349 (€399, £349), a price cut that for the first time made the XBO cheaper than Sony's alternative, the PlayStation 4.
From the consoles' launch in 2013, the PS4 not only was less expensive than the Xbox One but also edged it in terms of internal power.
Similarly, PlayStation's multiplayer online access program, PlayStation Plus, has enjoyed a better public image thanks to the caliber of games that are part of a monthly rotating roster of promotional downloads.
By cutting the once-mandatory Kinect sensor and, on November 2, announcing two $349 bundles that hold their price until January 3, 2015 -- one including all-action monster-blasting game 'Sunset Overdrive,' the other with both 'Assassin's Creed IV' and this year's upcoming 'Assassin's Creed Unity' -- the Xbox One became the cheaper of the two machines for the first time.
But there appears to be some leeway on the PlayStation side of things, with electronics vendor Dell readying a bespoke PlayStation 4 bundle, according to Black Friday sales specialist Bfads.net.
That site uploaded scans from a Dell Home & Home Office Black Friday sale listing it had received, disclosing a limited numbers offer of a PlayStation 4, along with the PS4 version of award-winning 'The Last of Us' and a copy of 'Grand Theft Auto V,' two highly praised titles, for the sum of $399.
