Before I start off with this discusssion, I'd like to put out 2 disclaimers -

- My target audience here is those who don't already own the Galaxy S II, and belong to the general mass of people who don't care about rooting/hacking a phone.

- Price has not been taken into consideration since there hasn't been an official launch of Nexus in India yet, and the Galaxy S II has been in the Indian market for quite a while and has gone down in cost.

So, now that we are clear on the assumptions, let us move ahead with the pointers, shall we?

1. Display - The Galaxy Nexus has a AMOLED display, while the Galaxy S II is not being sold in India with super LCD display. Of course, the display quality of AMOLEDs is better than that of super LCD. Additionally, Galaxy Nexus has a display of 4.65-inches, against the 4.3-inches of Galaxy S II.

2. Resolution - Galaxy S II has a resolution of 800x480 pixels (218 pixels per inch), while that of Galaxy Nexus is 1280x720 pixels (316 ppi). Thus, the Nexus doesn't only have a higher resolution and ppi count, 1280x720 is also the native resolution of Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of Android. Heck, even the resolution ratio of S II is skewed in comparison with that of Nexus.

3. Curved Glass - I am aware that this point is a very subjective one. But then again, I am yet to find many peeople who did not love that curved glass display of Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Additionally, it also feels natural and comfortable while pulling the phone close to the cheeks during a call.

4. Updates & upgrades - This is a well known fact that any upgrade to Google services and the OS shall arrive for the Galaxy Nexus much before any other device in the market. This is the beauty of Google phones. Which reminds me, while Galaxy S II has already been promised with ICS, there is no guarantee if and when shall the owners get the next incremental upgrade of the OS.

5. Stock Android - Another beauty of owning Google Phones is that they ship with unadulterated love from Android. Other manufacturers, more often than not, ship their devices with custom skinned Android.

So, what do you think? Which Android phone do you plan to buy, this holiday season?
