Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most-awaited games this year. However, post launch there has been a windfall of complaints regarding buggy gameplay. Some players are reportedly getting refunds for the digital copies on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam.
Launched globally on December 10, CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be plagued by a bunch of issues that are undermining the gameplay and the graphics across platforms. According to reports, some players have mentioned on Reddit that PlayStation is issuing refunds for the digital copies of the game following players’ complaints.
As per a VGC report, one Reddit user shared details of receiving a full refund for his PS4 copy of the game and he also pointed out that the game was played for over 10 hours which is well more than the usual two-hour playtime window that is unforced for a successful game refund. While Sony does not have a set return policy for games it seems that the uproar from fans has changed their mind about this one.
The Reddit user mentioned that he spoke to PlayStation customer support via the company’s US customer care line. GameSpot mentioned in their report that refunds are also available from Microsoft for the Xbox editions and from Steam for the PC edition.
And CD Projekt Red is listening. The developers tweeted an apology and have said that they are rolling out fixes and patches for all the platforms.
The team added that if anyone is still dissatisfied and does not want to wait for fixes, then they will be refunded for both the digital copies and the boxed copies. One patch has already been rolled out.
Studio head and creative director for Cyberpunk 2077, Adam Badowski mentioned in an email to the staff that they “underestimated the lengths and complexity involved to make this a reality, and still you did everything you could to deliver an ambitious, special game” and added that all employees would get full bonuses irrespective of how the game is reviewed.
