The year 2021 will be an important year for EA’s Battlefield franchise, and Beede’s appointment comes just as the company is working on its Battlefield 6 release, which is yet to be announced. According to reports, the next instalment of the popular franchise will not only make it to consoles, but is also expected to available for PCs as well.

According to the report, details of Battlefield 6 and the upcoming release later this year could be revealed by the company by Wednesday, before the virtual E3 conference. The company is also working on a mobile port of the game, which is expected to arrive on both iOS and Android. The report also states that the Battlefield game and the mobile version is being developed by five gaming studios.

Beede’s appointment “signals a strategic, long-term commitment to the growth of the franchise” and comes at a time when the company is facing intense competition from rival Activision with its extremely successful Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile series, according to the report. While these two games have been highly successful, Beede was reportedly part of the launch of the “live-service” aspects for both games.

While there was a video leak of supposed gameplay from the upcoming Battlefield 6 game a few days ago, EA has stated that the leaked video was only an “internal video of the game” and that the trailer that was coming up was a different video. However, we will only know more about the game sometime next week, when the company is expected to reveal more details about the game.
