Fortnite servers are back online as maintenance work concludes

Fortnite went offline for over one hour as the developers began working on server maintenance on Thursday morning. The game is now back online after the downtime.

Ahead of the maintenance work, Fortnite had temporarily disabled Whirlpools in Arena and Competitive Playlists. With the game up and running, Epic Games has rolled out the latest update for the popular battle royale games.

The latest update is said to be part of Epic Games’ Fortnite v13.20 roll-out. The recent version brings a slew of new features such as a deployable workbench, new weapons, limited-time modes, and more. It also has several bug fixes.

Fortnite is said to be working on adding a new Marvel character to the game. According to reports, this could be the long-awaited Captain America skin. As part of its Summer Splash event, Fortnite is rolling out updated versions of modes such as Close Encounters, Fog of War, Catch!, and Unvaulted. The One Shot LTM has also been added to the game.

With the Summer Splash event, Fortnite is integrating an aquatic theme to the game as well. Several maps and other elements have already been aligned. Data-miners, however, have discovered a new Atlantis-like underwater area in the game.

Spotted by a Reddit user, the map is said to be part of Fortnite’s game but has not surfaced yet (pun intended). According to reports, the Atlantis-like map should be available to gamers by the end of the next month. It is worth noting that as the game progresses in the coming days, water levels will recede. Once the water has returned, the elusive map could very well be accessible. That said, it is still a speculation, so take this theory with a grain of salt.
