Free CyberPunk 2077 DLC promised for early 2021 may not arrive on time

Game Developer CD Projekt has not been having a great time right now because of its Cyberpunk 2077 title and the number of bugs that it had. While these bugs are addressed and refunds are widely available, the developer seems to do a lot more to fix the reputation. And to do that, it needs to fulfil the promise that it made previously, which was of giving a free DLC for the game in early 2021. However, it seems like gamers won't be receiving the promised free DLC anytime soon. 

According to Engadget, the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine shows that the web page stating the arrival of a free DLC in early 2021 might have been been made live on the same day as the game launched. This was before the gamers came out with all the bugs and started posting them on social media.

When the bugs started cropping up, CD Projekt, on December 15 held an emergency conference call to discuss how the company would react to it. On that call, it is now reported that the company president and co-CEO, Adam Kicinski told investors that it was “too early to judge” when the company might be able to release the promised DLC.

He was asked that “How do you feel about your ability to release a couple of DLCs next year, and, obviously, multiplayer in 2022?”

He replied “To be honest, it’s too early to judge. At the moment please let us handle the situation, and please let us make some more assessments – that’s still ahead of us; we don’t know yet, and we’re now focused on improving Cyberpunk. We’ll discuss this early next year.” 

Right now, the company has promised to give out two major patches for the game this month and in February. So, in case you were expecting for a free DLC. It might arrive only after the company is done rolling out the patches, which means by February-end or March, or maybe later.
