Sony Playstation fans have another thing to rejoice about now. Earlier this month, Sony announced that Street of Rage 4’s new survival mode will arrive on July 15 and today, the company revealed the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut date of release for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 gaming consoles.
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will arrive on PS5 and PS4 on August 20. “We’re happy to announce that on August 20, we’ll be releasing Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on both PS5 and PS4 consoles. This new edition comes packed not only with the original game and every piece of additional content we’ve sold to date, but a brand-new adventure for Jin alongside a bunch of new features that we’re excited to reveal,” Sony wrote in a blog post.
Apart from revealing the launch date of its upcoming game, Sony also revealed a host of new things pertaining to the launch. Here are all the details:
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut: What’s new?
Sony said that a whole new chapter in Jin’s journey is coming to the game. ‘In this new story, Jin travels to the island to investigate rumours of a Mongol presence.’ The new chapter will include a new story and new characters, new armour for Jin as well as his horse, new mini-games, new techniques, new enemy types, and much more. “Director’s Cut will also offer new Trophies to unlock for the new Iki content,” Sony added.
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut: PS5 exclusive features
While Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be available on PS5 and PS4 both, some features will be available exclusively to the PS5 users. For starters, cutscenes in Ghost of Tsushima and on Iki Island on PS5 will now offer lip sync for Japanese voice over.
Additionally, Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and the new Iki Island expansion will all take advantage of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in the Director’s Cut. There will also be enhancements to 3D audio* on PS5, as well as drastically improved load times, 4K resolution options and framerates of 60FPS.
Sony said that there is a provision for transfer too. PS4 users will be able to transfer their saved game to PS5 to pick up where they left off. For new players, the new Iki Island content will be available beginning in Act 2 of Ghost of Tsushima, after they have made their way to the Toyotama region.

The company also said that anyone who already owns Ghost of Tsushima will be able to download a patch containing some new updates and that all players will receive a patch with some new accessibility options for alternate controller layouts, as well as the option to enable a target lock-on during combat.
Lastly, the company will be releasing new updates for the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends fans, which includes a new mode among other things. All these updates will be available on the platform at no additional cost.
