Holi 2022: Pokemon Go Festival of Colors is here; Oricorio debut, new challenges- check out the details

Pokemon Go is here to celebrate Holi 2022! The popular game by Niantic has released its Festival of Colors global event which went live on March 15. The event is scheduled to go on till March 20th and will have new challenges, collection events, raids and the debut of a brand new Pokemon. This is the second time Pokemon Go is celebrating the Festival of Colors event. Last year, it was a regional event specific to India. But after its huge popularity, Niantic has taken this event to the global stage and now all the players across regions can participate in these challenges. The biggest highlight of the event is the Pokemon Oricorio which will be making its debut. Check out everything new that’s coming your way in this event.

Pokemon Go Festival of Colors event

The event has been long awaited, after it was first teased in February. Niantic announced that for the first time, the Festival of Colors will go global and all players across the world will be able to play it. There is a lot happening this Holi, with the event not only bringing a new Pokemon Oricorio, but also collection challenges, wild encounters, raids and field research activities. Additionally, all players will receive a free face sticker for their avatar.

Apart from Pokemon Go Festival of Colors global event, the game will also host regional challenges specific to India. Let’s check out all of them.

Oricorio debuts

The dancing Pokemon Oricorio makes its debut in Pokemon Go Festival of Colors. There are four forms of this Pokemon, each will be exclusive to a region. Oricorio (Baile) will be available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Oricorio (Pom-Pom) will be seen in the American continent, Oricorio (Pa’u) can be caught in African, Asian, Pacific and Caribbean islands and Oricorio (Sensu) will be seen in Asia-Pacific region.

Pokemon Go Festival of Colors Collection Challenge

To get a chance to catch Oricorio, players will have to complete a collection challenge. In the challenge, they will have to catch the following Pokemon: Slugma, Trapinch, Drowzee, Turtwig, Horsea, Taillow and Gligar. After catching all these Pokemon, players will receive 20,000 XP, 3,000 Stardust, and an encounter with Oricorio!

To make it easy for players, the wild encounter chances have also been increased, allowing players to come across these Pokemon more frequently.

Apart from these, the Pokemon Go Festival of Colors event will also see a host of Pokemon raids. These will include one-star, three-star, five-star and mega raids. And finally there are field research tasks where each task will give out individual rewards.

Pokemon Go Festival of Colors India regional challenge

Between Friday, March 18 to Sunday, March 20, players in India will be able to participate in a Regional Challenge. Players will need to catch Pokemon to unlock the rewards. The more they catch, the bigger the reward. Apart from that, players in India will also be able to pick up a celebratory box for 125 PokeCoins containing a Lucky Egg, a Lure Module, a Rainy Lure Module, and a Mossy Lure Module.
