If you love playing Wordle, you have to check out the evil twin of the Wordle game - Absurdle. (Absurdle)

Nobody can deny the fact that the Wordle game has taken its place alongside legendary viral free games such as Subway Surfer, Temple Run, Fruit Ninja and Farmville. Not only do a large number of people play it every single day, they also take out time to post about their performance on social media. As a result, Wordle game is buzzing across the internet. But, there is a downside to Wordle as well. The game only offers one word puzzle every 24 hours. Which means, once you have solved it, you are forced to wait till the next day. Or, maybe not. If you feel the same way, you should try playing other similar games. So, if you are looking for a Wordle alternative, check out Absurdle, which is famously known as the evil twin of Wordle. What is it about? Read on to find out.

Before that, let us quickly explain how the game really works. In Wordle, you have to guess a 5-letter secret word within six attempts by placing individual letters in boxes. Every submitted attempt will give you one of three colors as highlight for the letters used. Gray means the alphabet is not in the secret word. A yellow highlight means the letter is in the secret word, just not in the right position. And green means the letter is both in the word and in the right position. The aim of the game is to find out the secret word in as few attempts as possible. Now that we have covered the basics, let’s get to Absurdle.

Absurdle: Wordle’s evil twin

While both Wordle and Absurdle are similar in gameplay, they couldn’t be further apart. And there is no middle ground with Absurdle. You will either love it or absolutely hate it. The spin-off was developed by a coder who goes by the pseudonym qntm on Twitter. The evil twin of Wordle game mimics the former’s basic rules of grid system, clues in colored boxes and guessing a five letter word.

But this is where all the similarities end. Absurdle brings an evil twist to the game. Instead of guessing a pre-decided secret word, Absurdle starts with its entire bank of 2,315 possibilities. And what you have to do is narrow down those possibilities so that only one word remains. And once you guess that word, you win. Also, the aim is still to do it with the least number of attempts.

If you are still confused, the entire rule is explained in much more detail on qntm’s website here. And if you got the grasp of it and want to take on this evil challenge, then go right here to play the game now.
