PlayStation 5 sold out in just 10 minutes of being available on Amazon India, according to IGN India.

According to the report, Sony’s most sought-after console was an unofficial re-stock as it would have been available with every major retailer in the country. The report further pointed out that if it were the official re-stock, Sony’s other retail partners like Flipkart, Sony India's online store, Vijay Sales and more would have listed it as well.

A separate report from the website adds that the brief availability of PS5 might be due to Amazon India's inventory recheck or possible unit returns.

The brief listing comes as Sony is struggling to meet the growing demand for its latest gaming console. Just recently, some unhappy gamers turned to Change.org to seek availability of the PlayStation 5 in India.

Despite the struggle, Sony reported it had sold about 7.8 million units of the console as of March 31. It added that the PlayStation Plus subscribers rose to 47.6 million, recording a 147% year-over-year growth. The company had last reported shipping 4.5 million units of the console through the end of 2020. The latest report reveals the company sold about 3.3 million units in the Jan-March period.

According to The Verge, PS5 is Sony’s fastest-selling console in the US. Nintendo sold more Switch units than Sony did for the PS5, though.

Sony reported a profit of 1.17 trillion yen ($11 billion) for the fiscal year that ended March 31, 2021. The profit almost doubled from 582 billion yen in the previous fiscal year, according to Reuters.
