Sony PS5's DualSense controller features highlighted in new video

Sony has been revealing its upcoming PlayStation 5 console while sharing new details on what it’s going to offer. We’ve already seen how the PS5 and its array of accessories will look like, and now we get a more detailed look at the DualSense controller.

Geoff Keighley, creator of The Game Awards, demoed the PS5’s DualSense controller in his latest stream. In comparison to the DualShock 4, the DualSense controller not only looks bigger but also feels slightly heavier, Keighley explained. He added the DualSense controller has more “heft to it” and is better structured as well.

Keighley demoed the PS5 controller by playing Astro’s Playroom which will come pre-installed on the PS5 when it launches. Astro Playroom is a multi-hour game and it’s based on the Astro Bot Rescue Mission PS VR game. The reason he played this game is to actually understand the different features and changes to the DualSense controller. The popular titles would highlight the PS5’s prowess but Astro’s Playroom is more about the controller.

The key thing he highlighted during the stream was the DualSense controller’s new haptic feedback. Keighley described this as a “unique sensation”. Sony has replaced the rumble sensation with haptic feedback on the DualSense controller with variations. Astro’s Playroom also highlights different features like swiping gestures and new audio effects. The DualSense controller has an integrated microphone which is a first for Sony controllers.

Sony has also added a USB-C port, new adaptive triggers and speakers in the PS5 console. The DualSense controller two-tone colour scheme but Sony may introduce more options later. Sony PS5 is scheduled for a launch later this holiday season.
