In a big development in the world of gaming in India, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has announced the beta release of FAU-G Team DeathMatch. FAU-G game can be downloaded on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This comes after months of uncertainty during which FAU-G was held up as India's answer to the banned PUBG Mobile India game whose new avatar has re-appeared as the Battlegrounds Mobile India now. PUBG Mobile was extremely popular and Battlegrounds Mobile India is showing all the signs of reaching that level too - there were 20 mn pre-registrations and as many as 5 mn downloads in a couple of days of the release of its early access version.
FAU-G has acquired quite a reputation too, even before its launch, thanks in large measure due to it targetting PUBG Mobile. That it had the backing of Akshay Kumar helped keep the spotlight on it too. It remains to be seen how well it is received by the gaming community here. Bangalore-based nCore Games has developed the FAU-G game.
So, it was fitting that Akshay Kumar did the honours of unveiling FAU-G Team DeathMatch beta release on Sunday. On Instagram, Akshay said, "Bullets will fly when #FAUG face their dushman in deadly team battles! Join the beta release of FAUG's Team DeathMatch mode. Limited slots only! #BharatKeVeer @vishygo @ncore_games_official."
Notably, Fearless and United Guards (FAU-G) game was launched on Republic Day, January 26, 2021. Although it was earlier in September, 2020 when attention was drawn to it when the gaming world was rivetted to the news regarding the ban imposed on PUBG Mobile India at that time. It was then that Akshay had tweeted: "Supporting PM @narendramodi's AtmaNirbhar movement, proud to present an action game, Fearless And United-Guards FAU-G. Besides entertainment, players will also learn about the sacrifices of our soldiers. 20 per cent of the net revenue generated will be donated to @BharatKeVeer Trust #FAUG".
There was massive public outrage in India over China's actions on the border at that time. India had then banned, along with PUBG Mobile India, hundreds of other China linked websites citing threats to national security.
