Amazon accidentally lists ₹59,000 AC for just ₹5,900; gleeful buyers bag bargain

Shopping online has its advantages, including availing of deep discounts and exclusive offers during festive sales and stock clearance sales. However, these discounts are sometimes too good to be true, as some shoppers recently discovered while searching for air conditioners on Amazon. To their surprise, the e-commerce website had made an error while listing an air conditioner (AC) with an unbelievable 94 percent discount, according to a report.

Shoppers on Monday were surprised to see a new Toshiba split air conditioner listed on Amazon that was originally priced at 96,700 at a very deeply discounted price of ₹5,900 according to a report by India Today. Some customers who were fast enough reportedly managed to purchase the device, after which the e-commerce giant revised the price on the shopping website.

It appears that the mistake might have been made while typing in the price of the Toshiba 2021 range 1.8 ton split air conditioner, and a screenshot of the product listing on Amazon shared by India Today shows the discount for the device calculated at 94 percent instead of 20 percent. According to the report, the product listing also showed users the option to pay for the device with EMIs of ₹278 to match the incorrect price. It has now been updated to reflect the proper price of ₹59,490 and an EMI of ₹2,800.

Just over a year ago, we had reported another error made by the e-commerce giant, which sent a man headphones priced at ₹19,000 when he had only ordered skin lotion worth ₹300. The founder of Josh software Gautam Rege received a pair of Bose wireless headphones worth ₹19,000 instead of the product he ordered on the e-commerce website. The company had refunded the cost of the lotion, and asked Rege to keep the earphones as they were “non-returnable”.
