New Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker with Google Assistant launched in India

Xiaomi launched several new home appliance products in India and one of them was the new Mi Smart Speaker. This speaker is priced at ₹3,999 but will be available from mi.com, Flipkart and retail stores at a special introductory price of ₹3,499. Users will also get free Gaana subscription for a year upon buying the product.

The new speaker has a ‘premium’ metal mesh design that is 0.7mm thin and has 10531 holes so the sound doesn’t get hindered. It also comes with a circular rim with aurora light that respond with different colours when given a voice command. The product supports Google Assistant as well so one can sync it with other Google Nest products and Android devices for a multi-room setup.

With an inbuilt Chromecast, the speaker can control other Mi home appliances as well including the Mi Security camera, Mi Air Purifier, Mi Smart bulb and more. It also works with smart plugs so you can control large appliances as well such as Geyser, Refrigerators and more using the speaker.

At the top of the speaker you get a touch panel to control music, volume and even cut of the mic completely. You also get two far-field microphones at the top to recognise your voice from different rooms as well.

On the inside, you get a 12W 63.5mm driver, which as Xiaomi claims, is the largest ever used in a smart speaker. In addition, you get a front-firing woofer and Texas Instrument hi-fi audio ass well along with DTS audio codec.

On the connectivity front, the new Mi Smart Speaker supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
