Which states have announced holidays?

Due to Chhath Puja, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Delhi government CM Arvind Kejriwal have declared a public holiday on November 10th, which is tomorrow. That means, banks will also be closed.

Besides Delhi and UP, Bihar and Jharkhand will also keep their banks closed tomorrow, as the states celebrate the festival on a huge scale. At the same time, due to Chhath Puja, bank employees in Patna will be off on November 11. The Meghalaya government also declared November 12 as an official holiday, as it is the Wangala Festival there.

List of holidays this week

November 10-11: Chhath Puja

In Chhath Puja, according to Hindu tradition, devotees worship the Sun God and his wife Usha , which is mostly observed in Bihar, Jharkhand, and bordering areas of Uttar Pradesh, to express gratitude and seek their blessings. However, it is now widely observed in Delhi also.

November 12: Wangala Festival

Wangala Festival is the celebration of harvesting in the honour of Saljong, the Sun-god of fertility, widely observed in Meghalaya. It marks the end of the period of toil which brings good output to the fields.

November 13-14: Second Saturday and Sunday

Weekends just after festivals, just adding to the excitement of the festive season!

Not just these, but upcoming weeks of November will also be filled with the vibe of festivities and holidays too! As November 19 will be a holiday due to Guru Nanak Jayanti, November 22 will be a declared holiday for Kanakadasa Jayanthi which is widely celebrated in Karnataka and Seng Kut Snem, the festival of Meghalaya will be celebrated on November 23, hence banks will remain closed.
