Alert! SBI internet banking unavailable today; SBI YONO, SBI YONO Lite down too

SBI internet banking services, including SBI YONO, SBI YONO Lite and UPI will remain shut for a short period of time today. The reason proided by the Sate Bank of India to its account holders is 'scheduled maintenance activity'. The services will be affected at a time when users are less likely to be using the service, and the downtime will affect users who rely on features like SBI YONO, YONO Lite, UPI, and other services during this period. SBI has over 85 million internet banking users, 19 million mobile banking users, and 135 million UPI-enabled users as of December, 2020.

SBI had tweeted that it would undertake maintenance activities on Sunday night beginning at 11:20 PM and ending on Monday morning at 01:20 AM. “During this period, Internet Banking / YONO / YONO Lite / UPI will be unavailable. We regret the inconvenience caused and request you to bear with us," the bank said in the tweet. In order to reduce the inconvenience caused to users, the bank is performing maintenance operations at night.

In fact, SBI completed scheduled maintenance on Saturday, between 12:20 AM and 02:20 AM, another 120-minute maintenance window. The bank’s online services were similarly impacted during this time and were restored once the maintenance was completed. Users will have to conduct their online banking activity before the specified time on Sunday night, in order to ensure that transactions are completed ahead of the maintenance.

Users who rely on internet banking will know that SBI, the country’s largest public sector bank, regularly undertakes this maintenance activity, which took place in August as well as in July.

Meanwhile, the SBI has recently launched a NAV-eCash card that is designed to help the navy while dealing with money while at sea, according to Livemint. The card will reportedly help users who need to use payment solutions when there is limited connectivity when the ship is on the high seas, with dual-chip technology that can allow for both online and offline transactions. The system will reportedly be set up at naval ships and defence establishments for a safe and secure payment ecosystem, according to the report.
