Google is expected to launch Android 11 in the third quarter of 2020. Ahead of the final roll out, reports have detailed features that are expected to make their way to the final release. Now, a report talks about Android 11’s Power Menu feature that is expected to integrate a number of controls.

In a tweet, XDA Developers’ Mishaal Rahman shows screenshots of the Power Menu that will be a part of Android 11’s Settings app. The screenshots hint that users will be able to customise the Power Menu using two separate sets of controls, which include Cards and Passes and Device Controls. While Cards & Passes made a debut last year with Pixel 4 and it gives users a carousel of their payment cards, the Device Control enables users to control all their smart home devices directly from the Power Menu instead of diving deep into separate apps.

The menu also shows that the Cards and Passes and Device Controls can be controlled separately. This means that users can choose to use one while turning off the other. A report by 9To5 Google states that users can enable these two menus such that they are accessible from the lock screen even when the phone is locked.

In a separate Tweet thread, Rahmaan showed how the Power Menu would look like. The images shared by him in the tweet thread show that the Power Menu will have power controls (emergency, lockdown and power) on the top, under which the carousel of cards and passes will be placed. Quick Controls, on the other hand, will be placed under the Cards and Passes section that will give users a one-tap access to control various smart home devices such as thermostats, cameras, lights, etc. This section will be customisable and users will also be able to see their camera feeds in the tiles.

Separately, Google was scheduled to host the Android 11 beta event on June 3. However, the company cancelled the event in light of the protest going on in light of the protests going on in the country owing to the death of George Flyod.

“We are excited to tell you more about Android 11, but now is not the time to celebrate. We are postponing the June 3rd event and beta release. We'll be back with more on Android 11, soon.” Google wrote in a tweet announcing the development.
