Android 12 leak shows tons of new features: Here are the details

Google, last month, rolled out the second developer’s preview of its upcoming mobile operating system, Android 12. The company is expected to drop Android 12 DP3 anytime now. Ahead of the rollout of the company’s next iteration of the upcoming mobile OS, a new report has detailed the features that are expected to be available to the users when Android 12 is finally released later this year.

As per a report by XDA Developers, the company is making significant progress in terms of the App Pairs. App Pairs was bug-ridden in DP1 and DP2. While the bugs remain, the company has added the ability to swap the position of each app by double-tapping the centre. The company has changed the ‘split screen’ button to ‘pin to top’. Tapping on this button makes the current app occupy one-fourth of the display until a user taps on another app in the recent apps.

The company is also making changes to the Google Assistant button. As per the report, Google is planning to add a new way to launch Google Assistant that includes holding the power button for a few seconds. Apart from this, Google is also working on a dual-panel home screen for tablets, a search bar in widget picker, and support for new emojis.

The publication also discovered significant changes to the user interface of this unreleased version of Android 12. The list includes a new volume panel, splash screen for every app, new app drawer opening animation, a slightly thicker brightness slider, and tweaks to the conversation widget picker.

Lastly, the company is also reportedly working on adding media management apps and alarms and reminders permissions, tweaks to sideloading apps, better location permission dialogue box and enhanced notification permissions for privacy.
