Apple Music introduces ‘Behind The Songs’ section, giving more information about the songwriters and composers

Apple has introduced a new section in its Apple Music portal, called Behind The Songs. This includes radio shows, playlists and videos that highlight the work of the songwriters, producers and session musicians. It is also possible to get deep dives into the songs and lyrics. You can hear from producers about their collaborations with different artists.

All this comes in addition to a number of Apple Music playlist series, such as Songbook, Behind the Boards and On the Session. It also includes Lyrics to Live By and The Stories Behind the Songs videos. What's more is that it includes the radio show Deep Hidden Meaning, wherein you can hear Nile Rodgers interview songwriters and listen to the stories.

It's worth mentioning that all the content in Behind The Songs, can be searched in the music streaming service. This means that anyone who searches for ‘songwriter’ or ‘songwriters’ will see it in the results. Behind The Songs also comes as a part of Apple Music’s partnership with The Ivors Academy. This academy represents and promotes the UK and Ireland songwriters and composers.

Apple Music’s introduction to Behind The Songs comes a couple of months after Spotify introduced a similar hub for songwriters in December.

The audio streaming platform by Apple seems to be gaining some new functions with iOS 14.5. For instance, iOS 14.5 beta comes with new swipe gestures for Apple Music to add songs in your queue. Swiping partially on a song will add it to the queue, and a full swipe will play the song next. This is similar to what Spotify already has where swiping right adds the song to the queue. It’s a handy shortcut that won’t require having to launch the menu all the time to add songs to play next or add to the queue.
