Arvind Kejriwal launches Delhi Corona app for info on hospital beds, ventilators

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched the Delhi Corona app in a bid to help citizens get information on hospital beds and ventilators.

“We are launching an app today which will give everyone the status of hospital beds and ventilator availability in Delhi,” the Delhi CM said in a press conference today.

The app called the Delhi Corona app weighs just 10MB and it is available for download on the Google Play Store. It will give residents of Delhi details about the availability of beds in all government and private hospitals across the city. The details include total number of beds available in a hospital, total number of occupied beds and total number of vacant beds. The app will provide similar details about the availability of ventilators in the city.

The Delhi CM while making the announcement regarding the app said that the app will be updated twice in a day at 10AM and 6PM so that users of the app get updated information about the availability of beds and ventilators.

Kejriwal also announced that apart from the Delhi Corona app, people will also be able to get information regarding the availability of beds and ventilators via Delhi government’s delhifightscorona.in/beds website, 0131 helpline number wherein details will be provided to them via an SMS, and the WhatsApp number 8800007722.

In addition to this, the Delhi CM also announced provisions in case a patient is denied a bed despite the app showing availability in a specific hospital. He said people can call the helpline number 1031, which will connect them straight to the office of the special health secretary, in case they are denied a bed.

“That being said, I say this again - that not every COVID-19 patient needs a bed. There are more than 20,000 cases, but only around 6,000 are in hospitals. Those recovering at their homes will be helped by our special teams," the Delhi CM added.
