Bank Holidays 2022 April: People tend to visit their nearest bank branches in order to get several banking activities done like passbook update, cash deposit, among others. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a list of bank holidays and according to the RBI Bank Holidays list, banking activities will remain affected for 9 days in the month, excluding the weekends (second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays). However, the good part is online banking operations will remain open 24x7. However, not all, but only a limited number of financial transactions are possible via Internet banking.

On the days of bank holiday, customers can use online banking services, ATMs, mobile banking, etc. Also, as per the information provided by the RBI, the bank holidays in April fall under three categories- Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act; Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Banks’ Closing of Accounts. It can also be known that some holidays are national in character and others are regional . On certain specific days, banks will be closed in just a few cities.

Bank Holidays in April 2022

1. April 1, 2022: The banks will remain closed due to yearly closing of bank account in almost all parts of the country except for Aizawl, Chandigarh, Shillong, and Shimla.

2. April 2, 2022: The banks will remain closed on the occasion of Gudi Padwa/Ugadi Festival/1st Navratra/Telugu New Year's Day/Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba) in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, and Srinagar.

3. April 4, 2022: The banks will remain closed on the occasion of Sarhul in Ranchi.

4. April 5, 2022: The banks will remain closed on the occasion of Babu Jagjivan Ram Birthday in Hyderabad.

5. April 14, 2022: The banks will remain closed on the eve of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti/Mahavir Jayanti/Baisakhi/Vaisakhi/Tamil New Year's Day/Cheiraoba/Biju Festival/Bohag Bihu in almost all parts of the country except for Shillong and Shimla.

6. April 15, 2022: The banks will remain closed on the occasion ofGood Friday/Bengali New Year’s Day (Nababarsha)/Himachal Day/Vishu/Bohag Bihu in almost all parts of the country except for Jaipur, Jammu, and Srinagar.

7. April 16, 2022: The banks will remain closed on the eve of Bohag Bihu in Guwahati.

8. April 21, 2022: The banking operations will remain halted due to Garia Puja in Agartala.

9. April 29, 2022: The banks will remain shut in Jammu and Shimla due to Shab-I-Qadr/Jumat-ul-Vida.

Apart from the above mentioned dates, the banks will also remain shut on April 9, 2022 and April 23, 2022 due to second and fourth Saturdays and on April 3, 10, 17, and 24 because of Sundays.
