WhatsApp, the instant messaging applications used by billions around the globe, is facing what can be called a privacy-based issue. The bug in WhatsApp is preventing users from watching the ‘Last Seen’ status or if they are ‘Online’. To remind you, both these features are usually found under the ‘Privacy’ settings of the app. However, even after enabling the last seen and online status, several users are not able to see it.
It is not clear since when the app has been facing this issue though. WhatsApp is yet to give a statement on this. The bug was still there at the time of writing this article.
WhatsApp Beta info, a website that reveals upcoming WhatsApp features, adds that due to the glitch users who have uninstalled or have logged out from the app, won't be able to log in.
While several have taken it to social media, talking about the WhatsApp bug, some have even reported it on Downdetector website. It is also worth adding that this glitch is seen on both Android and iOS platforms. The web version is working fine for now.
Downdetector adds that users are facing this issue in India, US, UK, Europe and other parts of Asia.
HT Tech tried to change the Privacy settings from within the app and was unable to do so. As soon as you enter the ‘Privacy’ option, the Android version of WhatsApp shows an error message stating ‘Failed to update privacy settings, please try again later.’ The same happened on iOS as well.
