CES 2021: Razer reveals a mask with RGB lighting and a gaming chair with a rollout 60-inch display

If you thought the N95 masks you see around you are boring, say hello to Razar’s Project Hazel. Revealed at CES 2021, Razar’s Project Hazel is supposed to be the “world’s smartest face mask”.

The Project Hazel mask has a glossy plastic shell that’s scratch-resistant and waterproof and it also features detachable and rechargeable active ventilators and high bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE) smart pods that regulate airflow.

Project Hazel is also transparent so it allows others view facial cues which aid in social interactions, as Razer explained. Since masks make it impossible to view non-verbal clues, like people smiling etc, the company wanted to address that with the design of Project Hazel. Also, if you are wearing this mask in the dark, interior lighting gets activated automatically.

This mask also comes with VoiceAmp technology that uses a built-in microphone and amplifier to enhance the user’s voice. Project Hazel also comes with active air cooling and regulation, an air-tight seal from its adjustable ear loops and a wireless fast charging box that can sanitise the mask with disinfecting UV-light. And of course, there is RGB lighting.

“Razer acknowledges the uncertainty in the road ahead, and so it was our duty to help protect our community members and prepare them from invisible threats,” said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO of Razer, adding that “the Project Hazel smart mask concept is intended to be functional, yet comfortable and useful for interacting with the world, while maintaining a sociable aesthetic.”

And that wasn’t all from Razer at CES 2021, the company also announced Project Brooklyn. Razer’s Project Brooklyn is a state-of-the-art gaming chair that comes with a carbon fibre design, RGB lighting and a 60-inch rollout display.

The chair itself sits on an adjustable platform with cable-routing and looks similar in ways to the Razer Raptor monitor. It also comes with 4D armrests that have collapsible tables tucked away - these allow the chair to quickly switch from a mouse and keyboard to a controller.

Razer mentioned in its announcements that it is going to continue developing Project Brooklyn and test it out with top esports athletes and personalities. And while we aren't sure if this chair is ever going to become mainstream, it surely looks like something every gamer would want.
